Helix Human Services Family Support Project (FSP), based in Hyannis, MA, provides support and stabilization services for families with adolescent children, ages 12 to 17, who:

  • Are at risk of out-of-home placement
  • Have been reunified from foster care or more restrictive placements
  • Are planning for step down from a residential or hospitalization program

The goal is to help these youth build skills to be successful both at home and in the community.

Helix Human Services Family Support Project provides an array of supervised services to families and adolescents. Specifically, Cape Cod Family Support Project functions as an after-school program during the school year and a day program during school vacations.

The FSP Team engages youth and their caretakers in both the home and community to provide advocacy and case management in a therapeutic setting. Services include:

  • Trauma-informed approach, we are constantly asking “what happened?” instead of “what’s wrong?”
  • Mentoring in problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution
  • Links to clinical support and medical appointments
  • Exposure to positive risk-taking
  • Transportation services
  • Educational assistance
  • Parental/caretaker support

The program uses a community-based youth center as a hub of operation. We choose to operate out of a residential home to encourage youth engagement. Services are recreational, goal-based, and offer wraparound collaboration with collaterals, schools, and courts. Each client has a three day a week schedule. Transportation and meals are provided.
