Helix Human Services is proud to announce that Mill Pond School in Springfield has received a generous grant from M&T Bank to support a beautification project designed to enhance the school’s therapeutic learning environment.
The grant will be used to transform hallway spaces throughout the school, helping create a calm, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere for students using art. These improvements are intended to foster a sense of pride and belonging while reinforcing Mill Pond School’s commitment to providing trauma-informed educational environments where students feel safe, respected, and encouraged to thrive.
Mill Pond School serves students who face social-emotional and behavioral challenges and benefit from a structured therapeutic setting that integrates academic learning with emotional and behavioral support. Creating spaces that are visually calming and thoughtfully designed is an important part of helping students regulate emotions, reduce stress, and feel connected to their school community.
Through this project, hallways will feature meaningful artwork, positive imagery, and engaging visual elements that reflect the resilience, creativity, and individuality of the students served at Mill Pond. These improvements will help transform everyday spaces into areas that inspire hope, encourage reflection, and support emotional well-being.
