A Very Successful Book Fair at Mill Pond School!

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Helix Human Services Hosted A book fair at Mill Pond School.

Over 200 Books Distributed at Book Fair!

On April 15, we hosted a book fair at the Mill Pond School Springfield campus for students. As you may know, we put out a call for book donations and WOW! did our community deliver! We had a modest goal of every student picking out 5 books. Not only did we surpass that, we have enough books leftover from the fair to build upon the school’s resource center/library! We are thrilled to get new & classic books into the hands of our students! We truly could not have done this without the support of our wonderful supporters including:

  • Chris Duggan at Audacy
  • TD Bank
  • LLumin
  • Link to Libraries
  • Baystate New England Orthopedic Surgery Center
  • Sally Felix
  • AISS
  • Board member Meg Beturne
  • Board member Cathy Rossi
  • & many donors from our Amazon wish list and Bookroo registry!

Thanks to you, this experience became more than just a book fair — it was a celebration of reading, responsibility, and reward. Watching the students find books that sparked their interest and knowing they earned the opportunity made it all the more meaningful. The joy on their faces as they browsed through the tables, thoughtfully choosing books, pencils, and stickers, was unforgettable.

We are so grateful to have a community that believes in the power of books and the importance of nurturing young readers. Your kindness helped create memories that will last long after the book fair is over.

How the Book Fair Worked

Students worked hard to earn Class Dojo points through positive behavior, effort, and participation, and they couldn’t wait to “shop” the book fair using those points. Our middle schoolers helped at the fair with setting up, handing out shopping bags, managing checkout, and helping others find books.
