Instructional Assistant

The Instructional Assistant provides academic support and behavior management in a highly structured therapeutic day school. In a small class setting, the Instructional Assistant will support the teacher in addressing the academic and emotional/behavioral needs of the students as set forth in their Individual Education Plan (IEP). The Instructional Assistant demonstrates an understanding and commitment to the mission of the organization and its goals and adhere to the policies and regulations of the agency. The Instructional Assistant is a vital classroom community member who assists in all aspects of student’s school day.

The Mill Pond Schools, with locations in Springfield and the Berkshires, serve students—kindergarten through age 22—who have social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges, a learning disability, or who may have a diagnosis of high-functioning Autism. We are committed to serving the whole child, including the child’s family. Our goal is to assist students in developing the skills necessary to successfully return to a less-restrictive environment, and, ultimately, to their previous school setting.

Schedule

Monday shift, 7:40 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday – Friday shifts, 7:40 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Requires professional experience with children with emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills.
