Springfield, MA – The FiT Program hosted a graduation on February 15, 2023 at the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.
Fathers in Trust program (FiT) is a parent education initiative for men ages 16-60 to develop skills central to positive parenting that yields healthy outcomes for children and families. At the core of FiT is the Fatherhood Development Curriculum, written and developed by Dr. Jeffery M. Johnson, in consultation with fathers, trainers, and case managers, and following extensive site visits and observation of trainers and participants. The program helps fathers build and strengthen their parenting skills and bonds with their children and gives them skills and tools to succeed in life.
At the event, graduates took to the podium to share their experiences on how the program has affected their views on fatherhood, with several public speakers joining them, including Hampshire County Sheriff Nick Cocchi.
“Even after finishing the program, I would continue to go to meetings because I have enjoyed the sense of community we found here. Programs like this make us feel like we are better together, we’re always going to be better together. We share love, instead of anger, and when we provide support or guidance to one another, we do better together, we now have a forever brotherhood” said one of the graduates.
